Wednesday, July 30

Next Meeting - Thursday 31st July. (Note the possible format change)

As normal we will be meeting in the White Hart Hotel.

We'll be there from 7.30 p.m onwards.

Look for us in the quietest corner of the bar we can find, upstairs with the skeleton or if its nice and hot  we may even be in the garden (beer car-park).

Usual format: drinks, gossip and the occasional manuscript review.

For those with work to review we will aim to start reading out before 8 p.m and finish by 10 p.m* Hope to see you there!

*As lately we have been a little overwhelmed by the number of manuscripts for review each week (which is great!) we will be trying to keep things moving quickly on the night.

Depending upon the number of manuscripts on the night we will either

- be looking for volunteers to skip a week so that we can focus on 4 or 5 manuscripts.

or

- restrict wordcount to 1200 and critiques to 2 or 3 points

Again please bear with us as we experiment with the best format that allows everyone to get the most out of the evening.

Writing a sex scene?

A set of thoughts and ideas  on writing scenes that many of us find pretty difficult:

How to write about sex without being boring

From the folks over at i09 so obviously has a certain speculative slant about it..

Enjoy!

Literary Rejections

True to form I have lately spent more time browsing the web rather than writing and came across this useful website. Amongst many useful topics it covers stories of successful writers and how they managed rejection, agent interviews, writing tips and a free agents listing.

Check it out here: Literary Rejections

*As lately we have been a little overwhelmed by the number of manuscripts for review each week (which is great!) we will be trying to keep things moving quickly on the night.

So readers please don't bring more than 1200 words and reviewers comment if you wish to but if so limit yourself to 2 or 3 points.

More detailed critiquing can then take place one to one later or via notes made on the manuscript copies.

We will try and get through everyone but if there are too many manuscripts to review we will be asking for volunteers to skip a week.

Please bear with us as we try out the new process!
