Historical Novel Conference - September 2012

We have been contacted by the organisers of this conference in London to spread the word about it.

So consider it spread.

The conference is on the 29th/30th September 2012 and is organised by some of the folks involved in the Get Writing Conference which Watling Street Writers have attended in the past.

Attractions include:

  • 20 optional workshops and talks to choose from (such as 'Killer Blows' with Bernard Cornwell and 'The Magic of Italy' with Sarah Dunant)
  • Groundbreaking keynote speakers with an opening address from Philippa Gregory and concluding address from Lindsey Davis
  • Challenging panel sessions (such as 'The Many Faces of HF: What does the genre embrace and where is it going?')
  • A chance to pitch in a pivate one-to-one with a UK or US editor or literary agent
  • Interactive reader debates (such as 'The Landmark Book Debate' with Elizabeth Chadwick and Barbara Erskine)
  • Friday evening Reception with wine and canapes
  • Optional excursions including 'Roman London' and 'Dressed to Impress' at the Museum of London, and a river cruise to Greenwich with a Yeoman guided tour of the Old Royal Naval College
  • Banquet with minstrels and jesters featuring Bernard Cornwell as after-dinner speaker, plus costume pageant and late night readings (now fully booked but there is a waiting list)
  • Terrific networking opportunities and a chance to rub shoulders with your author heroes and heroines
  • Members of the Napoleonic Association, 3rd (East Kent) Regiment of Foot will be in attendance in full military dress
